Double podium for Birchall Racing at Snetterton
The Mansfield based Birchall Racing team headed to the 1.95 mile Snetterton race circuit in Norfolk at the weekend for the
opening round of the 2007 British F1 Sidecar Championship. Practise and qualifying on Saturday saw the brothers, Ben and Tom
Birchall, set to line up in 2nd place behind current World Champion Tim Reeves and his new passenger Stuart Graham.
After qualifying, Ben said �The bike is running well, the team are happy and we are ready for racing on Sunday.�
In race one Reeves and Graham were quick off the grid followed by the Birchall brothers who were 2nd into the first corner.
Ben and Tom quickly gathered up pace and were soon able to break away from the group of sidecars chasing behind them.
The Birchall brothers finished up in 2nd place behind Reeves and Graham, with Peddar and Steadman in 3rd place, some five
seconds behind Ben and Tom.
Commenting after race one, Ben said �The team will be making a few changes for the second race and then we�ll go hard again.�
Race two saw Reeves and Graham break away at the front followed by the Birchalls, who, after a few laps, got well ahead of
Norbury and Knight who fought hard throughout the race for 3rd place. Reigning world champion Tim Reeves won the race with
Birchall Racing having gained another 2nd place.
Ben said after race two, �There were no problems, Tom and I had a good weekend�s racing and we�re ready for the opening
round of the FIM World Championships in Germany from 11-13 May�
